Andrew Murray: "Sometimes you go on the court and feel like you've got a little something to prove. Acasuso might not be a (Roger) Federer or (Novak) Djokovic or (Rafael) Nadal but he's ranked 40, 45 in the world mainly on clay. I went out and played great and showed I'm a very good player on clay. I was very pleased. It was a great performance. I did everything well, served and returned well. Overall I didn't make too many mistakes. I was very aggressive and my shot selection was excellent. To win against him in straight sets and not lose serve and break five, six times, it doesn't happen too often a match goes as smoothly as that."

Rafael Nadal: "The conditions are very, very bad today. The winds were terrible on Centre Court. These were two difficult days, because as time goes by you get more nervous and you can't practise, so I probably lost the rhythm I had acquired before this tournament. But I hope this won't be a problem for the rest of the tournament for me to play well."

Novak Djokovic: "I'm a perfectionist in life. I like everything to go the best possible way. I just played as much as I needed to play, so let's see how it goes in the third round."

Lleyton Hewitt: "It was extremely tough, especially on that court where it just sort of swirls around the whole place. (It) doesn't really go one way or the other. It was tough for both of us and you had to be mentally tough out there. I'm happy to get through in straight sets today.... as (the hip) it's still not 100 percent. Obviously there's still a little bit of pain and discomfort there. At the moment, I'm just trying to play through as much as I can and see where it takes me."

Juan Carlos Ferrero after retiring with a leg injury: "(The Olympics) was one of my objectives, but I think it's going to be impossible now but there is nothing I can do about it. For the grass season I have a bit of time ahead of me to have a rest but it's going to be difficult. It's not a serious injury, but it keeps coming back, and I can't play my best tennis. I'll try and do my best and if it doesn't work out well, too bad."

Marat Safin on upcoming match with compatriot Nikolay Davydenko: "It's going to be an interesting match. We're going to be nervous. We don't want to lose to each other. Let's see who will be stronger."

Michael Llodra: "When you have 3,000 or 4,000 people with you it's easier, especially when you play five sets. At the end they helped me a lot."

Maria Sharapova: "Apart from eating and breathing the sand, it was great. The conditions were bad for me, they were bad for her, and they were bad for everybody else playing on all the other courts. I had problems in every department of my game today, so I'll have to improve on every aspect of those things."

Ana Ivanovic: "I expected a very tough match, so to win with a score like this, it's definitely a great, great proof that I played good today. I prepared myself that I have to work hard for every point and that's what I did out there. I put a lot of pressure on her but she made mistakes when I didn't expect it."

Serena Williams: "I didn't want to go three sets today. I thought I could close it out in two sets and it was getting dark. I'm tired of playing so late and in the dark and I was like, okay, I'm going to close it out before then."

French ninth seed Marion Bartoli on first-round exit: "I'm just fed up. I'm going to turn off my mobile phone, turn off my TV set, forget about Roland Garros. I'm going to try not to think about it. Go far away, very far away. Why not take a short break, some holidays?"
