Borussia Moenchengladbach have parted with coach Hans Meyer after yet another relegation-threatened season.

"With an almost 67-year-old Hans Meyer it is not possible to build a team," Meyer told the Aachener Zeitung newspaper.

"I could help them with my experience to stay up. Anything else is not productive, neither for Hans Meyer nor for Borussia."

Meyer, who took over last year, saw his team spend most of the season in bottom place and only avoided relegation thanks to a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
