Preston chairman Derek Shaw has rejected claims that managerless Reading have requested to speak to manager Alan Irvine.

Fellow beaten play-off semi-finalists Reading are in the market for a new manager after Steve Coppell`s resignation earlier this month.

However Shaw told the Lancashire Evening Post: "Alan is under contract with us and I don't want to get sucked into talking about speculation."
