Cheltenham have confirmed promising youngster Jamie Edge is set to join Arsenal after an undisclosed agreement was reached between the two clubs.
The 15-year-old midfielder, who has progressed through the Robins' youth system, has been on Arsenal's radar for some time and recently returned from an under-16 tournament in Italy where he represented the Gunners against some of Europe's elite.
And he now looks set to follow in the footsteps of a long list of young players who have progressed under the watchful eye of Arsene Wenger and the Premier League giants' development scheme.
Chairman Paul Baker told the club's official website: "Cheltenham Town have reached a financial agreement with Arsenal for the transfer of Jamie Edge.
"We believe it is an excellent deal for the club both in terms of the money we will receive this season and next and further payments that become due depending upon the progress Jamie makes at both club and international level.
"It is a particularly exciting opportunity for Jamie who now has to agree personal terms with Arsenal before the deal can be confirmed."

"you cannot win anything with kids"
Wellllllll........... some mixed comments there.
Firstly, well played to the guys n girls that have commented and wished Arsene Wenger well.
HOWEVER......... for all of you that are slagging our manager off I think you are forgetting a few things.
Yes okay we havent lifted any silverwear for the last couple of seasons but you are forgetting a couple of things. The couple of you thatare moaning about just this, i think you're supporting the wrong team.... try CHELSEA!!
Wenger is the manager that has spotted some of the worlds best talent when no 1 knew about them. The scouts n him bring them in and people no nothing about them. Viera, Henry, Berghamp, Anelka, Fabregas, Walcott, Flamini, Hleb,.... acouple to jog your memory lol
Any team can spend spend spend and build a wonder team. Look at Chelsea, Real Madrid and now Man city..... but then look at these.
A) The way they play as a team (how they work together on n off the pitch) and
B) The amount of managers they have gone through.
They aren't teams that have been "MANAGED" at all, where Arsene Wenger has (and still is) molding his dream team. I agree we need a stronger and more maturer back 4/5 but we also need the young, fit and hungry lads further up front and maybe a mix in the middle.
This season I reckon Arshavin will be our playmaker, like Cesc was before his injury just like Viera was when we were the untouchables but I do also agree with the spending of some cash. I think we need a more well known striker up front.... David Villa, Alexandre Pato or Adrian Mutu (I wish!) would be great lol but Brede Hangeland looks likely to be signing from Fulham as well as Christian Zapata. They will be a good help to us.
But guys, please give Wenger a lil time n be behind our manager. He's dedicated to arsenal as he could of left this season so lets show him we're behind him n the boys, regardless of age they're all still GOONERS!!!!
Oh n the arsenal youth we
I'm all for nurturing young talent on the promise that they will build you a great team in the future.
Only problem is that by the time these players start to reach their prime, all the big cashed up clubs want them and after years of empty promises at Arsenal they choose to leave before Arsenal ever really gets full value out of them.
Take Fabregas as an example, Arsenal want to build a team around him (fair enough), the guy is now what 21 / 22, give him 2 more seasons with no trophies and I reckon he will be off to Barcelona or Madrid at 23 / 24 where he will spend the best years of his career.
Same thing with RVP, I give him 1 or 2 more seasons at Arsenal before he f***'s off.
When that happens (and you know it will), Arsenal will take the cash, put 70% of it towards the stadium and buy more 15 year olds with the rest.
I'm getting fed up.
More Kids! What about Next season.
khamiz_236 you are an idiot
Pls Mr Wenger..u thought that you can win a cup with your youngsters???Did you win the league cup in your 12 wonder years...non! That's reality. so @#$% on Arsene, pls change your strategies .. do buy the lads aged between 25-28 years old with a champion experiences and pls field up with only 2 or 3 youngsters. I strongly believed that we will win at least 1 cup in a season.
how old is the Arsenal youth team??? 3 year olds? Lets hope this is the LAST of the feckin kids! @#$% sake venger sort your @#$% out!
we are becoming tired of you Arsene Wenger....why cant you buy matured players, these youngsters need someone to groom them and that will take a season or two.....we are tired of losing trophies otherwise get lost!!!!!!!!!!
well its great we got this young kid il never have a go at wenger because hes the best at spotting talent but i do hope he has a good look at some of the early matches of the season and buy a good centre half hangeland of fulham comes to mind we are not far away from bein great again roll on next season.
Arsenal board pls, stop tis players-rearing farm biz and make tis club to continue to be the proud of the whole fans. in as much as we need good football with cheap pay we as well need torphies with joy and proudness. Pls, i beg bcus of the fans scathered all over whole world balance this club once again so that arsenal will regain its glory. Bring in some experienced and physically fit players who can put leg when ballack, terry, gerrald, drogba, ronney puts legs. All these boiler legs can't us take us to any where but we will lose them when they are matured. Quote me
enuff young stuff...arsenal at least an experienced lads for defend and midfield area... if tomas is ready, then we will have a massive guns in midfield tomas-walcott-arshavin-nasry plus persie and ???
go arsenal do something wonderfull nxt year...all the best arsene wenger
UP THE ARSENAL keep the faith stick with Arsene and the rest will follow tropheys medals n all lol Cmon
scott comment 14 u can buy all the youth if u say but it takes a good manager to improve them to world class look at some of the tallent we have let go because they unable to get into squad but fit in straight away to others ok we lose some but look at the fees it creates would you rather mr wenger spent millions on players half way through careers and forget about youth scheme oh like chelsea ok short term success long term loss, yes it would be nice to get the tevezes ronaldos but we got cesc robin theo arshavin i could carry on so get behind mr wenger and lets look to a good secure future
if u are the young player who arsenal want to buy? are you gonna say NO. and, 4 years later, do called him young? it's called future investment buddy.
buying every young player with any talent under the sun doesnt show your a good manager. wenger shouldnt be getting any credit for this
atleast arsenal have a youth system, thats why they whooped liverpool youths butt lmao and would do same to the dirty chelskiiiiii
arsenal will win atleast ONE trophey nxt year, if they keep main players injury free and sign a couple of good players on the cheap if possible they will come out nxt season and cane ALL! lol
they get younger, and younger...
good luck gunners :)
