Aldershot boss Gary Waddock faces competition in his bid to bring Jake Robinson back to the club after Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson declared his interest in the out-of-contract striker.

The 22-year-old has been released by Brighton and is looking for a new club after having enjoyed two separate loan spells with the Shots.

Waddock has a strict budget to work under this summer and could miss out on his target to Simpson who is also keen to land the marksman.

Simpson told the Shrewsbury Chronicle: "Robinson is a player I have wanted before.

"I have spoken to his agent but no more than that. We didn't talk about wages or anything like that."
