Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson has expressed his interest in out-of-contract striker Jake Robinson.

The 22-year-old has been released by Brighton and is looking for a new club, with Aldershot also firmly in the race for his signature.

Having been at Brighton from a young age, Robinson has enjoyed two separate loan spells with the Shots, the second of which saw him spend the final three months of this season at the Recreation Ground - finding the net four times.

But Simpson is also keen to land the marksman and told the Shrewsbury Chronicle: "Robinson is a player I have wanted before.

"I have spoken to his agent but no more than that. We didn't talk about wages or anything like that."
