Former Nottingham Forest defender Richard Tait has vowed to come back to haunt the Reds after being released by manager Billy Davies earlier this month.

Tait looks set to turn his loan spell at Tamworth into a permanent deal after verbally agreeing terms with the non-league outfit.

And he told the Tamworth Herald: "I was absolutely gutted to be released by Forest. It was hard to take at first but you have to bounce back from setbacks.

"I'll be out to prove a point to them now and hopefully one day I will go back to haunt them. I'm hoping to sign for Tamworth next week and I believe that Gary Mills, as a former full-back himself, can help me develop as a player."

Meanwhile, the Championship club have announced a pre-season friendly against Sporting Lisbon.

Davies' men will face the Portuguese Giants at the Estadio Municipal on July 11 before spending the next five days at a training camp.
