Terry wants FA Cup send off for Hiddink

Thu, 28 May 09:26:40 2009

Chelsea captain John Terry insists the players are determined to give interim coach Guus Hiddink a day to remember by winning the FA Cup.

The England captain maintains the Chelsea squad are not thinking about who Hiddink's successor may be as they want to remain focused on providing the Dutchman with a victorious FA Cup send off.

"We are not thinking about the new regime at all," said Terry. "We don't want to disrespect the current manager and so we are fully focused on the FA Cup."

Hiddink is set to quit Chelsea after Saturday's FA Cup final against Everton and return to his main role as Russia's national coach.

The players and the fans have all urged Hiddink to change his mind and stay but Terry admits the squad has total respect for the way he has remained loyal to Russia's players.

Hiddink has set his sights on rebuilding the national side and qualifying for the World Cup finals in South Africa next year.

But his commitment to the Russians means turning his back on a job he openly admits has been enjoyable from day one.

Terry added: "I am sure there maybe a few chats after the game with the people upstairs, but they are the ones making the decisions. As a group of players, we get on with it and we do what we can on the pitch.

"It has been a tough couple of years with different managements and it is important the players get their rest and we come back even stronger next year.

"We don't know who is coming in and we don't know what regime he is going to bring in. But at the minute we don't really care about that. We care about Guus Hiddink. He is the man in charge."

  2. First of all what I'm about to say goes to the ones who hate Barcelona, La Liga, and have been talking trashhhh throughout the season about them. First of all Premiershitt is not better than La Liga. Now Spain has 12 CL trophies, 1 more than England and Italy. Second, Barca leads the goals scored in CL, with 851 goals, and second come madrid with 850 goals. Third, Barca is the only team in Europe to compeete every year in a European Competition. This proves that La Liga is Better. Also, you english fans complained about Barca's defense not being good. Barca were missing Alves, Abidal, Marques, and Milito, 4 of their key players, and still Man U could not score a single goal against Barca. You english fans complained about Messi not being a great player and not being a complete player, and saying that ronaldo is better, and Messi can't score against english teams, and can't score with his head. Here are the facts, Messi scored with his had against Man U, an english team, and he has scored with his head before too. Another fact, ronaldo himself has not scored a goal against an Spanish team. You english fans were also talking trashhh about english teams having better defender, and ViBITCH and Rio being the best defenders. Well let me ask you, did you see how they got outplayed, did you see how Eto'o outplayed ViBITCH and scored the goal? Did you see Henry and Messi outplaying Rio, ViBITCH and the whole man u defense? I'm sure you saw that. And for you english people that say that Barca has not played any hard teams, well let me tell you, Barca beat Seville home and away, beat Valencia, home and away, beat Villareal, the same team that man u could not beat, Barca beat them home and away, they beat Atletico Madrid 3 times, Barca also knocked out chelsea out of CL, by dominating the first leg, and came back in the second leg with 1 men down and scored against 10 men anti football team called chelsea, and Finally OUTCLASSED man u. TRUTH HURTS

  6. Whatever happens, Chelsea must survive. It has been destined for glory. You guys should please play your heart out on saturday by winning the FA Trophy for this gentle-giant @#$% matured, exposed and experienced coach Hiddinks. At the end of Saturday's game, God will surely touch Hiddinks' heart to change his decision; but my prayer is that God should guide Chelsea Board the wisdom not to make mistakes like that of Scolari again. Insha Allah, next season WILL be good for Chelsea - Coachwise, recruitment and injury free season. I have absolute confidence in Almighty Allah.

  7. The season hasn't been too good for us but an FA cup victory will ease the tension from bad managing, injuries, and terrible refs. Everton is obviously a good team. They made it to the finals, but Chelsea are just too hungry, too angry, and to powerful.

    GO CHELSEA!!!

    4-0 to CHELSEA!

  8. Im sad that its Hiddinks last game as coach, but a trophy win is a great way to show how respected he has been.atleast the team know why guus is going and can still take insparation from his teaching and feel motivated within theirselves next season.Total total respect to Molyes and Everton, the only side we havent scored against yet this season and a very together side who no doubt feel their season warrants them a cup too.cmon chelsea, dig in and tally a very important FA cup win for the players and the fans!!! CFC4EVER!!!!
