West Ham defender James Tomkins is relishing playing in the European Under-21 Championships after being selected in Stuart Pearce's squad.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a successful second half of the season for the Hammers after returning from a five-week loan spell at Derby in December.
"I am very proud," he told West Ham's website. "I was well chuffed when I received the call.
"It's obviously something I am very much looking forward to, joining up with the squad and hopefully getting the chance to represent my country at a higher level.
"It's exciting and all I hope is that I may get a chance and show what I can do."
Tomkins has previously represented England at U15, U16, U17, U19 and U20 levels. Hammers midfielder Mark Noble is also in the England U21 squad for this summer's championships.
