The Fiat Yamaha star, who made a poor start from third on the grid, lost the rear of his M1 on the entry to a tight left hand hairpin - the rear wheel whipping around and swiping Randy de Puniet from his LCR Honda.

de Puniet appears to have sustained a leg injury, while Rossi was eventually able to rejoin a distant last.

Up front, pole sitter Casey Stoner overtook Dani Pedrosa for the lead at the end of the first lap and promptly began pulling away.

  1. I just couldn't believe when it happened. I was speachless, but I am so happy that he pick-up his bike and ride, at least he get 5 points for it. I know he will do better for the next race. He still have the 20 points lead from Stoner and Dani only have only 4 points ahead of him. This year the race is going to be close, eventually Valentino will be the champion of 2008
