Spaniard contender Dani Sola has been forced to retire from the Ypres Rally following a strange accident which occurred with Dutch Mitsubishi driver Jasper Van Den Heuvel.

At the beginning of SS 11, the fifth run of the day, Van Den Heuvel was preparing to begin the stage when Sola - who was running late - collided with him before the stage start...

The impact damaged the front suspension of Sola's Abarth Grande Punto, meaning that he was unable to continue in with his car in such a condition.

Van Den Heuvel's Mitsubishi Lancer also sustained some damage, but luckily he was at least able to continue.
