Before a crowd of thousands, the Mikolajki super special concluded the 66th edition of Rally Poland, the first to be part of the World Rally Championship in 36 years. It also became the scene of a serious upset for Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala, who crashed on this very final run.
Hitting an oil barrel filled with sand, the Finn's car was thrown off course and hit the barriers front first, breaking his suspension and steering system. The clearly devastated Latvala was close to tears as the stunned members of the Ford team looked on while he unsuccessfully tried to complete his run. Details
