Hull are "very close" to signing Nancy striker Marc-Antoine Fortune, according to the French club.
"He has had permission to speak to clubs but the most advanced discussions, and the team that is very close to signing him, is Hull City," said Nancy sporting director Nicolas Holveck.
New Celtic coach Tony Mowbray was reportedly keen to make the 27-year-old his first signing, but now looks set to lose out as the £3.5 million striker looks set to move to the Premier League side instead.
"It's highly possible a deal will be agreed over the weekend," added Holveck. "While these things can change at the last minute, Hull are the clear favourites."

Hull are not serious about Owen. It's just Brownie having a bit of fun to keep the punters interested. Owen thinks he is tooo big for the likes of the Tigers but he would struggle at Donny the way he has been playing.
Frazer Campbell and MarlonHarewood would be a good combination and need top be the priority. Shame Cousin can't be rrrrrssed to play for Hull because he has talent but no drive or interest and is basically lazy.
Crucial that Bullard gets fit but I think he will always be the sort of player who plays one game and then is out for six weeks
Come on you ULLLLLLLLLL
Great!
If only we could sign Fraizer Campbell, Michael Owen and Marlon Harewood for up front,
then have Kevin Nolan for midfield, and also a few good classy wingers.
Brunt wasn't all that special for the Albion, got a few goals at the end of the season
better than Cousin, Folan or Fagan, a good foil for Campbell with Geo playing behind them and Owen coming on for the last 30-35 minutes not a bad combo
Great news on Fortune now Tigers should just sign Campbell and Owen on a pay as you play contract and they can show that the Premier is where they belong
Chris Brunt was the best player from the WBA!!!!!!!!! ........
LOL thank you Hull lol im a celtic fan and didnt want him and to be honest i dont think i know a celtic fan that wants him lol. 4 million lol good luck with injuries owen aswell
Nothing can be done about Owen until after 1st July, they will be talking after then,
Donney sounds like you dont like Hull lol, better you stick to things you know, like the sticky stuff you talk about
Anyone is better than the extraordinarily expensive 'Past Sell-By and Use-By date' Michael Owen!
HUL AS A DUMP. SEEN NECER LUNDFIL SEETS.
HULL UR SHIITE.
If hull want tosurvive they have got to get rid of Brown ,he thinks he is the club and his ego is out of control.
i like pie!
I see,
So what about Owen then??
