Premier League - Scolari blasts Chelsea trio

Eurosport - Sun, 28 Jun 15:43:00 2009

Luiz Felipe Scolari claims a number of Chelsea players did not respect him and his training methods during his ill-fated eight-month stint at Stamford Bridge.

The 60-year-old Brazilian, who is currently coaching Bunyodkor in Uzbekistan, singled out the behaviour of Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba, Germany midfielder Michael Ballack and Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech as unacceptable.

Scolari, who took over the Blues hot-seat last July and was sacked in February, told O Globo newspaper: "The real owners of football at the moment are the players. The coach, in most European clubs, has no strength to contradict them.

"The people sacked are always the coaches. The main players already know this. That was my problem at Chelsea. Drogba, Ballack and Cech did not accept my training methods or my demands."

  1. Lets face it we were a lick of paint and that with a slip away from winning the CL two seasons ago and that with an incompetant in charge. Had we shown patince with Scholari we wouldnt of won the fa cup or got to a semi of the CL when deep down even all you Chelsea haters know we were robbed. Scholari should just be grateful he had a massive pay day at Chelsea. Perhaps the incompetant who employed two average coaches needs to be looked at. Neither has gone onto get a major job why? in fact Grant does not even have one. Being a manager of a national team working with players for about 30 days a year is totally different to coaching a multi national club side. Scholari came into the job doing nothing with Portugal based on his so called record in Brazil and with their national team with Portugal he lost the Euro championships on home soil against Greece lets get real. Everybody knows that it should of been a MUFC v Chelsea final and Barca should not of ben there. Its also weird that many say the premiership title is not a major competition funny that is only the case when people want an excuse to criticise just what have Arsenal and Liverpool won in their last five years of stability? everybody knows that Lampard and Terry are the most influential players at Chelsea funny how he does not mention them then sorry Scolari you are a limited manager with little tacticle knowledge. Your plan B was to switch to zonal marking at Southend and to instanty concede a goal from a corner get real. Singling out players for blame does not help you or the players and considering the amount of time Drogba was injured how could you blame him ? clutching at straws gone and very soon forgotten and showing your true character.

U might need some pair of eyeglasses, because 20 and 21 are not similar. I can start supporting man united doesn't mean I would, because I have better teams to support, like Liverpool and Arsenal. Man united is not a team one can really rely on! I was happy my team Barca gave them the scolding of their life in the final. They deserved it well, especially for that poof of ronaldo. Liverpool/arsenal are the next EPL champions! So, die with your team if you want! My main point was about Ronaldo, not man united. The same goes to drogba and ballack, not chelsea!

  4. Chelsea is a mess, the board should not allow prima donna behaviour if they want to win anything. But then one just as to look at Abrahmovicand Peter Kenyon personality to know where that came from, just ask Ranieri. As for Drogba, well he's the ultimate consumate professional, isn't he ? Could Chelsea fans maybe have a slight suspicion that it is not how well you do at Chelsea the meter for the quality of a coach? Scolari is World Champion 2002 and has won wherever he has been, no one can take that away from him. What went wrong at Chelsea ? Suddenly he is incompetent ? Suddenly he's a bad tactician ? I am sorry but I rather believe his version of events on this one, what with Ballack germanic self assurance and the very overrated Peter Cech, who's only quality as a keeper is his big frame. Ancellotti will do well do bring in some loyal players at Chelsea or he will find himself in trouble as soon as there's trouble.

First of all, I am and was never a chelsea fan so if u can't read me well, it is up to your funky @#$%. Secondly, I don't need your permission to support what team I want. Thirdly, I am free to say what I want pleases you or not. Lastly, you are just a bas.tard!

  6. The fact of the matter is that Chelsea are a @#$% club with no history. The manager has no power because if he contradicts Abromovich,he gets the sack.Shevchenko was bought by Abromovich, not Mourinho. When Shevchenko was dropped,Mourinho was sacked. Also,if Terry disagrees with the manager,he informs Abromovich, and this also contributes to a managers dismissal.Simple as.

Guus Hiddink was successful with the same team as Scolari. The problem wasn't Drogba or Ballack, the problem was Scolari who simply wasn't up to the job. He was sacked for incompetence yet pocketed 7million. Where else would that happen. Phil Scolari shut up, and in the words of Didier Drogba "You are a f..king disgrace."

  10. essien came back from injury at a good time for hiddink. look at all the games since his return, match winnig performances, 1 man can make A difference and let the truth be told, essien is the best player in chelsea, lampard performs when essien is in charge, madrid should pay 80m for him cos he's worth more than that, though too ugly and not controversial enof to sell jersies... mikel is a dumb @#$%, will never be like makalele, mak and essien made it hard for chelsea to loose under jose.chelsea is finished

It is so surprising that Luis Felipe Scolari could still be talking about Chelsea players months after his incompetence led to Chelsea failing to nick the EPL title for this past season. This was a manager that opens his mouth too wide to the extent of singling out players for blame when clearly, his lack of tactical nous, resulted in some worst results posted by Chelsea, even at the Stamford Bridge that used to be a slaughter ground for visiting teams. He clearly stated it when he signed for Chelsea that his reason was informed by money. That may have accounted for why he became so biased with selections, always preferring Deco, even when he was not in form only to blame others. Was it not the same team that Hiddink turned around without noise-making as Scolari always does?.Scolari should mind his business in Uzbekisatn of all places and stop venting his anger at Chelsea and its players. If he was so good, would he have gone to Uzbekistan?. He had no choice of course. Chelsea should should in fact, be the one complaining for the was Scolari cost them the EPL title this season. Scolari should realise this and concentrate on his business. Such noise making without the ability to pilot the affairs of the team both tactical and otherwise did him in and not the players he now want to blame for his woes. He caused didvison in camp and made team spirit to be low. He equally scored players on the pages of newspapers instead of accepting responsiblity for poor results during his reign. Was it not during his period that Stamford Bridge became an easy place for all teams. It was also during his charge that Chelsea lost to all the other top 3 teams in a scandalous way and were in fact, being knocked out of the Champions League before Hiddink came. Why would such a person not be sacked by any well- meaning team. Chelsea simply had enough of his incompetence and that was it.
