Premier League - Torres seeks Spanish recruits

Fernando Torres has revealed he has recommended three of his Spanish compatriots to Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

The Spain striker believes the Reds need "small players with quality" to finally wrest the Premier League title from Manchester United and would like Benitez to sign David Silva, Juan Mata or David Villa from Valencia.

"English football is very difficult because it's very physical and played at a high tempo," Torres said. "We have a fantastic team to play against the big teams and we are competitive.

"But maybe against those teams lower down we are not good enough. We have to improve that and I think we can.

"I think we can definitely be stronger at home. We have some very good players but maybe we need other players. I hope Liverpool will bring people like Silva, Mata or Villa. These are small players with quality like United had with Carlos Tevez and also with Paul Scholes.

"They are clever players and maybe they can make the difference. Yossi Benayoun plays like these kind of players and I hope we can bring more like that so then we have different options to play against all the sides."

    liverpool are in real danger of standing still next­ year and not repeating a great season... utd have funds­ that liverpool dont have, man city is starting to scare­ me with the players they are accumilating and even­ arsenal are starting to show signs of strengthening...­ i honestly think torres is the best striker in the prem­ right now but i also think liverpool over achieved last­ year.. if they hope to compete with man city, man utd,­ arsenal then liverpool need a top defender, a top­ midfielder and someone up front with torres that can­ hold the ball.

    Actually Man U wasnt based around Ronaldo and never has­ been based on one player. Infact any real Man U fan­ will tell u that the best player is Rooney, and any­ England fan will say Rooney. I dont see Portugal doing­ very well atm do u? Ronaldo will not even be crowned­ World Player again since he has moved to Spain. This is­ because Messi is actually a better player and is also­ like 2 years younger so an even better prodigy. Now­ that they play in the same league it will be easier to­ compare the two, with La liga requiring close control­ compared to the high tempo of the EPL where Ronaldo­ could just skin a defender and run past.
