Valentino Rossi clinched his 100th Moto GP victory after cruising to a comfortable victory at the Dutch TT in Assen.
Rossi won with consummate ease, losing his lead very briefly at the start of the race but storming back to complete his historic achievement.
Rossi unveiled a huge gallery of photos chartering his career in celebration of having reached the landmark, with a packed crowd at Assen chanting his name.
"It's fantastic because this track is special and there is a lot of history. My father won this race in the 250cc (category)," the 30-year-old Rossi said.
"It's great when you can ride your 100th victory," he added after unrolling a 10-metre wide poster showing his 99 previous grand prix wins.
Rossi now leads the standings after seven of the season's 17 races with 131 points, with Lorenzo at number two on 126 and Stoner third with 122.
The three men were tied at the top with 106 before the Dutch race.
Jorge Lorenzo was a comfortable second, while Casey Stoner finished third, despite being a long distance from the front two.
Colin Edwards finished in fourth, just ahead of Australian Chris Vermeulen.
James Toseland battled superbly to clinch sixth spot after an extended tussle with a host of drivers in a very clustered second group of riders.

Comment 31 - 50 of 50
deaconIf com41- Mr Cox is quality!! He adds that little bit of fun to the commentary side which would otherwise be a bit bland- love the nick names and 'third armpit' jibes, always adds a smile to my face, great entertainment. zry_4321 com49- those sort of races are brilliant, team mates or not right now the championship is wide open so both gotta fight for it- Lorenzo is Rossi's main rival for this year no doubt. Victory 101 for VR in the USA!!
I watched the duel between Lorenzo and Rossi at Barcelona. Regardless who was the winner ,which Rossi did ;you saw their managers , jumping up and down and pleading for both riders to calm down !
I totally agree with bikerboy_mad
Rossi's puppets may be overwhelming for his 100th victory, but its the ferocious battle for the 6th place that save the day of an otherwise boring race! What's the point of seeing a whole lap of cruising while further back there was a "massacre" going on -especially on the final lap!
Great 100th win. Hopefully many more to come before the 2011 switch to F1.....that would be fun to see IMO, anyways he has nothing left to prove in MotoGP, he is the greatest of all time. He would bring millions of fans to F1 (yeah all you guys) I am a huge MotoGP fan but find F1 just as interesting even if most of the races are boring.
Must to be shame to the peoples who won the rights to transmisson of the races ,because they stop transimisson on EUROSPORT international.
well done valentino!!!! myself and my r1 are off for a right good f+++ing rip today in your honour!!!
Congrats to Vale on the 100! Great to be able to watch the GOAT and now with serious competition (you know I mean you Jorge!)
One thing though: when will the TV directors understand that when the leaders are sorted out and there is a huge battle going on for 6th we don't need or want to see the last three 'cruising' laps of the first three but miss completely the real racing and battle behind - it utterly ruined the coverage of the 'race'.
As I expected Motogp beat F1, Bravoo Vale 46. from Sepang Malaysia.
RE: deaconlf... whats the problem deaco baby everybody has a knickname we all love pezza, valle and stavros don`t diss the cox we need people like you "like a third armpit" quote unquote the charlie cox (ex touring car gladiator) no actually i am english.
go on valle lad here`s to 100 more .........
Brilliant race action, but why do we have to listen to that Aussie pillock giving nicknames to all and sundry - pezza, vally etc - and talking utter drivel. BBC used to stand for BRITISH broadcasting corporation, so lets have BRITISH commentators. Suzy Perry and Steve Parish are very good, but why waste licence-payers money on the other bloke, whatever his name is?
Congratulations Rossi, you're he best all time. For me Rossi's best win is 2006 in Germany Sachsonring, in last 2 corners win against Melandri, Hayden and Pedrosa. That was unbelivelable. But Catalyna was a greatest move i ever seen in MotoGP
Congratulations to Rossi on his 100 victory. I really hope Rossi can beat the win record before he retires. Agostini got 122 wins but he used to race two classes every race weekend. Just picture if Rossi raced say 250 and MotoGp class every weekend. He would probably have close to 150 victories and over 15 World Championships. Rossi and Agostini two of the greatest off all time. I been following Rossi right from his first 125cc race. The Doctor.
valeeeeeeeeeeee rossi 46 always x
WLF !!!!!
Another milestone for the GOAT. Did what he had to do for the victory, credit to Lorenzo- he is getting more confidant with each race and is racing like Stoner did in 2007, only this time Valy is in top form with a equal bike and tyres which shows how far ahead of his rivals he is. If it was not for the 'lottery' wet races in france and italy this year Rossi would aready be dominating this championship!! USA next- three in a row I say!! Go VALY!!
GOOD TO SEE NICKY HAYDENS'S SECOND TOP TEN FINISH IN A ROW, ESPECIALLY WITH A LOOSE CLIP ON! I HOPE THEY THEY DIDN'T HIRE ONE OF BEN SPIES' FORMER YAMAHA MECHANICS!!!
Campeón para siempre!!!
100th. victory, Valentino Rossi! What a racer he his...
I am so pleased, and not just because it was his 100th victory.
But in the manner in which he took it.
It was a masterful display, on a true riders track, by one of the true greats.
It was a honour and privillage took witness such a display.
Long my he live
All hail rossie
GRANDISSIMA VITTORIA DA GRANDISSIMO CAMPIONE!
FORZA VALE!!!
It wasn't spectacular race as at Montmeló, he simply spectacular blow away rivals. Peerless performans! Great 100th victory for the greatest champion ever.
Next target 123! Don't disappoint us, Valentino, f~uck F1!
FORZA IL DOTTORE!!!
