"Real Madrid and Manchester United have signed the final agreement for the transfer of the rights of the player Cristiano Ronaldo effective July 1," the Spanish club said.

"The player will remain at Real Madrid for the next six seasons and will be presented on July 6 at the Bernabeu stadium," a statement read.

Portugal international Ronaldo, the World Footballer of the Year, becomes the third confirmed signing under new Real president Florentino Perez, who has returned to the club pledging to create a "spectacular sporting project".

Perez spent around 67 million euros on AC Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka and has also brought in Spain defender Raul Albiol from Valencia for a reported fee of 15 million euros.

Real and Ronaldo's representatives had been negotiating personal terms since United announced this month they had accepted the Madrid club's offer.

There were no details of the agreement in the Real statement. Spanish media have reported that Ronaldo will earn around 13 million euros per season.

  2. 11.I just wish madrid would have got Messi instead, because he is way better than ronaldo, but it's hard to get Messi from Barcelona, the best club in the world, plus Messi loves Barcelona and Barcelona loves Messi.

  3. Fergusion is getting to retirement stage so any hope from the fans that he creates a new Ronaldo is nil.He has to buy big like Chelsea and Real Madrid or he wont win anything this coming season.Gone are the days of forcing players to sign new contract. Now ,who is a slave?

  7. at united ronaldo was wanted and adored for his great skills. at real madrid he's wanted for the money he can make them. that's when passion dies. good luck to him, i wouldn't trade the goals and trophies he brought in but ferguson will create new, true stars like giggs, schmeichel, keane, cantona...

  9. That united girl.....how can you support Ronaldo at Madrid the way he lied to everyone at Man' United. he knew he was going at the end of last season, he registered CR9 as a trademark in Spain way back in January 2009 so he can sell his skimpy barbie doll shorts line in his CR9 Spanish boutique to all the sycophants he thinks are going to support him when he goes to UNReal Madrid this summer. I'm not supporting him. I used to....but I hate him now. He lied to everyone, left United with no honour. I don't care about his highly tanned, athletic body, goal scorin prowess, and highly styled hair on the pitch anymore. He is not going to be wearing a red shirt anymore, and no-one will be setting him up with the goals the way the Man' United players unselfishly did for him. He will dwindle slowly but surely into obscurity and all his magic will slowly disappear....until, he gets down on his knees and admits he was wrong, sold out on Man' united, his starmaking manager, and everyone who loved him...just for a fatter bank balance and Hollywood glamour with his new sports agency management team there in Los Angeles. I don't even think he likes football anymore. I don't see what new challenges he will have in Spain...the one he had in the UK was to win back the Champions League Cup for the Reds. He's more interested in modelling now and being famous for looking good. I don't think he cares one jot for football anymore. Maybe he will again when it's too late, like Beckham...

  10. hey can you come back to a club then after having cheated and lied to your fans, manager and team-mates? Making out Unreal Madrid is the top club in the world as he has done, his boyhood fantasy was to play for them????.....I reckon if it was it was because they didn't get English Premiership football in that house of theirs in madeira and had no idea what was going on over here. If they had, his boyhood dream would have been well superseeded by a premiership club. How can Ronaldo see a second rate Spanish team that didn' even win its own league superior to one that did. Also three English teams in the semi-finals of european championships (not Unreal Madrid), four last year...isn't it obvious to him which is the best place to play footie then?

  13. Theres a Huge void to fill now. I can't see what players Fergie can bring in to immediately replace Ronaldo, David villa, silva, Ribery etc are all very unlikely and so i Thinnk realistically he is going to have to spend the £80m on up-coming players that would hopefully grow into world class players in 2-3 years, maybe more. To then become a better team. Just like when Manu U had that 3/4 year blip. Although theres always a risk that one of them players would do what Ronaldo did, and then your back at the beginning again. At least if you signed an aready proven quality player You know you are going to get the best out of him.

  20. SIR ALEX RULES OK, anyone at MAN U who thinks differently will be sold anyone who says they want to play for another team will be sold.Only a fool would want to leave a club like Man U or Liverpool to think that they are going somewhere better.CR7 is going for the money, not for what he is being paid but for what Real M will make out of him in sales and match gates,so if he thinks he will be loved more in Spain for his talant than he was in England he is a fool. He will be loved for the Euro s he will make. This is one very happy Man U fan we have 80 million to spend and have got rid of CR7 and Tevez both of whom got way to big fer there boots.
