"Real Madrid and Manchester United have signed the final agreement for the transfer of the rights of the player Cristiano Ronaldo effective July 1," the Spanish club said.

"The player will remain at Real Madrid for the next six seasons and will be presented on July 6 at the Bernabeu stadium," a statement read.

Portugal international Ronaldo, the World Footballer of the Year, becomes the third confirmed signing under new Real president Florentino Perez, who has returned to the club pledging to create a "spectacular sporting project".

Perez spent around 67 million euros on AC Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka and has also brought in Spain defender Raul Albiol from Valencia for a reported fee of 15 million euros.

Real and Ronaldo's representatives had been negotiating personal terms since United announced this month they had accepted the Madrid club's offer.

There were no details of the agreement in the Real statement. Spanish media have reported that Ronaldo will earn around 13 million euros per season.

  6. Will people please stop putting posts up that start "All you Utd fans"(or all you Liverpool fans for that matter) All fans of a team donot think exactly the same. There is one on here that says all Utd fans loved him and now all Utd fans hate him, utter rubbish. I for one thought he was a great player, but I never really liked him.Now he has gone i still think he is a great player but I am no longer interested in what he does as he no longer plays for Utd.

  12. utd have recieved £ 80mil for ronaldo, made a profit of approx £68 mil, not taking in consideration his salarie,s and bonuses whilst at utd, real have bought him not just for his ability but also his image and marketing rights, they will probably make somewere in the region of £400 mil off this player then pass him on, like they did with beckham, THATS WHY THEY ARE THE BIGGEST CLUB IN THE ..........WORLD.

  13. ronaldo will be frustrated at real madrid. not enough players there willing to run themselves into the ground in support for him. players like park, fletcher and especially rooney. Reals midfield is very attacking, not many people back track for them, and defense is one of thier key concerns.

  20. Money is a driving force, but too many things can change in 6 years.

Ronaldo could lose his touch like Ronaldinho.

There could be a lot less money in the game. ESPN might get financial issues.
