The best quotes from week one of the Wimbledon Championships featuring Rick Astley, grunting and Michael Jackson's death.
"What do you want me to say? I said I wasn't proud, but I'm not going to lie to anybody. I busted my wife on some of her ... music. She brought up Rick Astley. I can't deny it. It's in my iPod. I bet it's in your iPod, too, so shut up." -- Andy Roddick, when quizzed on his music taste.
"Well, I tried to be quiet for you guys today." -- noisy Portuguese teenager Michelle Larcher De Brito, who made headlines at the French Open for her screeching, teasing reporters during a media onslaught.
"You don't understand the heat in Florida. I needed a sweater out there." -- A grinning Venus Williams after beating Carla Suarez Navarro in searing midday temperatures on Saturday.
"If I can win with only one shot, I don't know, I'm a genius." -- Croatian skyscraper Ivo Karlovic responds to criticism about his one-dimensional serving game.
"Michael Jackson goes way beyond the black community. I mean everyone of every colour, every nation, every race is Michael Jackson's fan. The guy literally couldn't walk the streets." -- Serena Williams on the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, who died suddenly on Thursday.
"Back maybe in '88 or '89, he came to Basel. I was outside of the stadium because there was such excitement that he would come. I was still very young. I think I went there with my sister and we just listened from the outside." -- Roger Federer recalls a distant childhood memory of Jackson.
"I hope Mirka's a good wife." -- A smiling Lleyton Hewitt, father of two, when asked what tip he would offer the 14 times Swiss grand slam champion Roger Federer, whose wife Mirka is heavily pregnant.
"I don't think a lot of them would last five sets." -- Hewitt again, this time on making women play best of five-set matches at the grand slams.
"I always said maybe if I was a guy I would play cricket." -- India's Sania Mirza tells Reuters after a first-round victory over Anna-Lena Groenefeld on Monday.
"I think some people are just too noisy. For me it's extra effort to do it, so I'd rather not do it." -- Japan's Ai Sugiyama on players who screech after her match against doubles partner Daniela Hantuchova in which neither made one squeal.

semi finalists
1 Murray v Hhewitt ~~~~ 2 Djokovic v Federer
But we hope Mr Sweden ,,Robin
wow. roddick seriously needs some anger management seminar.
And stine147 conveniently forgets that nadal, juan martin, A-Rod and wawrinka were also in the top half of the draw. So what if the man gets lucky and the draw opens up for him, every player is there by ranking, so with respect, you are not making an intelligent point at all, just baseless conspiracy theories.
stine147 are you mentally ill? get a grip. there is always some idiot complaining about murray getting easy draws in tournaments.also if you had bothered to watch the kendrick/murray game you would have seen that the guy had a good serve.murray didnt play great but even nadal and federer have off days.
EVEN A RETIRED TIM HINMAN WOULD HAVE STROLLED INTO THE FINAL IF PLACED ON MURRAYS DRAW, WHAT? AND NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT, INFACT THEY ARE ALL ARGUING ABOUT BEEN SCOTISH AND BRITISH, JUST WHAT THEY NEED TO DISTRACT PEOPLE FROM WHAT IS GOING ON, WHO CARES IF HE IS BRITISH IS THIS THE OLYMPIC, IF HE WINS THIS TOURNAMENT IT IS NOT GOING TO THE BRITISH SPORT ASSOCIATION OR THE SCOTTISH SPORT ASSOCIATION IT IS GOING TO HIS HOUSE. GET THAT INTO YOUR HEADS AND STOP THIS BRITISH AND SCOTISH ARGUMENT
What surprises me in Andy Murrays part of the draw is while players like Llyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick, Wawrinka are been tested with players that have hot services Murray on the other hand have been playing with players who are serving double faults, it makes you to wonder how was that part of the draw arranged, if this was Federer draw I know people would not have rested with all kind of insults, but now I see the reason why they already picked Murray to get to the finals. The only known player in his draw was Ernest Gulbis (Lat), who is Robert Kendric? Who for God’s own name is Viktor Troicki they all have one thing in common smiling feeling so happy to be playing in the new open roof as if that is not enough he Murray will then be meeting another player who also does not have hot service, a player who also have been enjoying the draw without been tested and at the end of the day when Murray gets to the final they will say he played so hard, played so hard? When he will be meeting a tired and worn out Llyton H or Andy Roddick in the Semis, what a very funny tournament well arranged ANDY MURRAY WILL START PLAYING HIS WIMBLEDON MATCHES WHEN HE GETS TO THE SEMIS TO MEET A WORN OUT OR TIRED LLYTON H OR ANDY RODDICK
why does ANDY MURRAY have the hot shots in his half of draw ~~ Roddick + in form HEWitt
while FED is safe in the bottom half of draw with easy passage to final ...????
Mr Sweden gifted the FRENCH G/S TITLE TO FEDERER ~~~~~~ VERY REAL GENEROSITY
Lets see if he can make it a contest thistime to eliminate FED like he did to NADAL in Paris
