Saddlers boss expects Jabo success

Mon 28 Jul, 03:30 PM

Walsall manager Jimmy Mullen believes summer signing Jabo Ibehre can be the surprise package in League One this season. The 25-year-old striker has signed a one-year deal after joining from Leyton Orient where he made 250 appearances.

And he could partner Michael Ricketts - who is in his third stint with the club - in Tuesday's friendly against Wolves at the Banks's Stadium.

"He is a handful," Mullen told the Express and Star. "I saw that in Jabo last year and there was something which I always felt could be worked with.

"With a bit of work, encouragement and tender loving care there is a kid there who wants to do well.

"If this kid can get a few breaks in front of goal and get a couple of goals and a bit of confidence he could be anything he wants to be."
