Sorensen hopes to land Stoke contract

Mon 28 Jul, 01:45 PM

Stoke boss Tony Pulis was on Monday taking a look at Thomas Sorensen as he prepares to finally end his summer search for another goalkeeper. The Potters have already agreed a fee for Sunderland's Marton Fulop and the Hungarian had been widely expected to put pen to paper on Monday.

That is still likely to be the case but Pulis has decided to take a quick look at Sorensen as he weighs up the merits of saving £3million for his other transfer targets.

Sorensen is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa at the end of last season and has already held talks with Turkish giants Galatasaray. However the 32-year-old is keen to stay in England and is hoping to be offered a Premier League lifeline by the Potters.

Meanwhile City's latest signing Seyi Olofinjana has vowed not to let his Nigeria commitments affect his club form. Mick McCarthy claimed the 28-year-old's performances dropped after the African Nations Cup last season, but Olofinjana is determined to ensure he gives his best for his new club.

"We will have to see how things develop because I'm not 21 now, I am 28," he told Stoke City World.

"In African football you cover a lot of distances in terms of going back and forth, but we will try to work things out in a way that isn't going to affect each other, my international duties and my club duties."
