Southampton defender Michael Svensson has continued his remarkable progress from a career-threatening knee injury in Cheltenham friendly.Svensson, affectionately known as 'Killer' to the fans, has struggled with the injury for over two years, and last played first-team football for the club during the 2005/06 season.
However, after completing 90 minutes in a friendly at Cheltenham, Svensson admitted his relief at having taken a major step on the road to recovery.
He told the club's official website: "It's obviously a nice feeling to play 90 minutes, it felt good through the game itself and afterwards the knee was okay, it's been fine.
"It was very important to play a full game, that's been the next stage for me. I had to see how the knee would react after 90 minutes and the other test will be to see how it reacts in the days after as well."
