Hamburg believe Real Madrid's interest in Rafael van der Vaart has come to an end after the German club rejected a 6million euro offer for the playmaker last week.
The Holland international has repeatedly been linked with Madrid throughout the summer after some fine performances at Euro 2008, but Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer last Thursday dismissed the Spanish champions' offer as derisory.
Madrid have not return with an increased offer, and the Bundesliga club are confident they have heard the last of the matter.
"The fact is, we have not heard anything from Real Madrid since last Thursday," explained the club's press spokesman Jorn Wolf on hsv.de.
"The offer for Van der Vaart was rejected out of hand and the Spaniards declared the issue to be over and, until now, have not come back with a new offer or enquiry."
Reports in Germany over the weekend claimed the Hamburg directors have agreed to let Van der Vaart go should they receive an offer in the region of 13million euros.
The Dutchman has a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave Hamburg for just 1.5million euros in 12 months' time. His contract in Germany expires in 2010.
Hamburg will meet Madrid in London next week at the Emirates Cup, where media reports suggest the Spanish champions will resume their bid to the 25-year-old.
But Wolf insisted no further discussions would be held.
"Apart from what happened last week, there has never been any contact between HSV and Real Madrid and there is no intention to meet with them during the Emirates Cup either," he added.
