Agent: Dossena wants Napoli switch

Tue 28 Jul, 11:52 AM

Andrea Dossena's agent claims the Liverpool defender is eager to sign for Napoli and that the two clubs are in negotiations.

Dossena only moved to Anfield last season from Udinese but has failed to settle in and is likely to find himself even more surplus to requirements following the arrival of Glen Johnson on Merseyside. The Italy full-back is reportedly keen on a return to Serie A and would welcome a move to Napoli who finished 12th in the league last season.

"We want to close the deal, we will reach an agreement," Federico Pastorello told TuttoNapoli.net. "Napoli's offer is five million euros (£4.3million) plus bonuses."

He added: "It's a deal the two clubs are sorting out, we're waiting for news.

"Napoli know how much Andrea earns, a significant sum, but less than two million.

"Our intention is to reach an agreement. We will not even have a problem with giving up image rights.

"The player is currently in Singapore with Liverpool, he is also awaiting news.

"Although he loves being at a great club like Liverpool, he would welcome the opportunity to join Napoli with great enthusiasm."

A stumbling block could be Liverpool's reluctance to accept a bid of half the 10million euros (£8.6million) they paid for the 27-year-old barely 12 months ago.

  1. I'm by no means an out and out Benitez critic, in fact I think he'd done pretty well overall. But he has done very poorly with fullbacks: sold Warnock for £2m when Blackburn are now looking for £9m; got Degen over on a free who looks an injury liability and not up to the mark when he is fit; sold Rise for £4m and bought Dossena for £8m, now selling Dossena for £4m. Add Josemi to the list and Arbeloa being sold for virtually what was paid for him, not to mention Johnson for £18m and it doesn't stack up that well. Re Lucas I'm with #12 - I think he could be a decent player - good stamina, scoring rate isn't bad, passing/delivery is very hit and miss but when he's feeling confident it's pretty good, tackling, well he needs to improve a lot on that front but don't see why he can't. However this season is really now or never for him, as for Babel, and out the two I think Lucas the more likely to make it.

  3. Who wants Bale From Spurs ??!! yeah great idea swap a fat Italian who cant defend for a fat slow Welshie who cant defend instead it's not a great achievement for Bale not being able to hold down a place in the SPURS defence...........lets forget about useless wasters and buy proven quality instead.

  7. His pace is probablt best suited to Serie A, certainly not the EPL. To be honest, taking a drop would be worthwhile on him, saves on his wages.

As a rider, why don't people get off Lucas's back, he did well at the end of last season and anyone that Benitez and Gerrard rate is good enough for me. Rather than having a go at him, get behind him and give him a confidence boost. It could save us money in the end.

  10. He is a god defender but cant hack the epl pace so cannot expect to play especially with aurelio having a blinder of a season last year and insua looking every bit the prospect he was touted as being.....I wouldn't be happy taking a 3 mill drop though so we should offer Dossena plus say 5mill for Lavezzi who looks a good benayoun type playmaker.....what harm can it do......I'd also like to see david Bentley who despite a bad season at spurs is one of the best crossers of a ball for Torres and Kuyt in the epl or sneijder from madrid.......if alonso goes we should get bodmer from lyon if mascherano goes we should get de rossi from roma......whatever it takes.
