Lancashire and Somerset will return to Old Trafford on Wednesday for their Twenty20 Cup quarter-final on the reserve day, after rain washed out any play on Tuesday.
"It's very wet and very frustrating," Somerset captain Justin Langer told Sky Sports.
The Lightning and the Sabres will reconvene at 5.30pm for a tie in which the hosts are favourites.
Lancashire have won eight out of 10 North Division matches this season, but Somerset will be confident that their powerful batting line-up can fire.
Should the match be washed out again - when the forecast is poor - then this last-eight contest will be settled by a bowl-out.
Before that, the shortest match allowed is a five-over contest.
It would be the first ever bowl-out to settle a washed-out Twenty20 Cup match - although Surrey did beat Warwickshire in a bowl-out to win a tied quarter-final in 2005.
All tickets for Tuesday's match will remain valid for the rearranged fixture.

I note Alan G's jaundiced views of 20/20. He' s right in that it is a totally different game to what cricket was designed to be "ah many years ago". Those of us lucky enough to have played that old game with all the sportsmanship and camraderie involved can feel smug when we see to-days emphasis on win at all costs and forget you're there to enjoy. "When the great scorer comes to write your name,he'll not care if you won or lost -but how you played the game"
Ah I see sense has prevailed. Must have been my previous post. Come on Lanky Lancashire even if it is only baseball!
What a stupid system. The best team in the competition could go out on a bowl out. They can't be that desperate to complete a game of baseball: you only need three hours. As most county matches only last three days they could tag it onto the end of one of those. Anyway, it's only girly baseball so who cares: the worst invention ever in cricket history. Give me a five day test any day. Typical of the McDonald's generation: can't cope with anything that requires concentration. Perhaps we should all admit we've turned into mindless Americans who can't watch sport without adverts!
