World Cup qual. - Babel dropped for Scotland clash

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk dropped Ryan Babel in favour of uncapped Eljero Elia for the World Cup qualifier away to Scotland.

Van Marwijk added Celtic defender Glenn Loovens to his squad for the first time, while defender Giovanni van Bronckhorst returns after missing the England friendly earlier this month through injury.

"I have known Glenn for a long time as he made his debut under me at Feyenoord aged 18 and he is a big physical strong defender with speed and a decent pass," Van Marwijk said.

The Netherlands have a friendly with Japan on September 5 then play Scotland four days later.
