Murty blow for Saints

Fri, 28 Aug 13:37:32 2009

Southampton will be without Graeme Murty when they travel to Stockport in search of their first league win of the season.

The veteran full-back suffered suspected knee ligament damage during Tuesday night`s Carling Cup defeat by Birmingham and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Youngster Lloyd James, who played in midfield against City, will step in at right-back.

Recent signings Dean Hammond and Neal Trotman were cup-tied in midweek and should come straight back in at Edgeley Park.

Wingers Joseph Mills (hamstring) and Lee Holmes (groin) are closing in on returns, although this game may come too soon.

Striker Grzegorz Rasiak joined Reading on Thursday.
