Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe has apologised to Marc Bertran for the tackle that fractured a bone in the Tenerife defender's leg and put him out of action for three to four months.
Bertran was felled by a crunching foul from the Dutchman in the first half of Real's 3-0 win at the Bernabeu on Saturday and had to be substituted.
"That's football and these things happen but when they do it's normal to feel a bit bad," Drenthe said.
"That's why I wanted to talk to him and tell him that it was not intentional and he said that was the most important thing."

I for one don't actually believe that Real Madrid's players try to break their opponents legs and I'm not a Barcelona fan either. If you read my posts you can quite clearly see that Tenerife is my team. What annoys me though is that whenever the "smaller" teams visit el Bernabeu they are always hard done by. 4 pathetic yellows to Real's 1 - which should have been red. Look at Osasuna last year. How many times are penalties given there? All I'm saying is that it would be so much different if Ronaldo, Kaka or Benzema had been taken out like Bertran was. But then again, all you "Madrid 4lyfe" retards can't see that. Perhaps they should make a filter for those who have got Real coming out of their ****.
And the guy apologised only because he was told to. Look at the video. It would bring a tear to a glass eye.
Arriba er tete. Adelante sin temor a la meta final.
pig! same class of Scholes.. but Pepe is above the rest!
I wonder what this guy is still doing in Madrid! He is complete rubbish. Watch him again on saturday, he was rubbish. Ithink madrid deserves better player with all their money.
ha ha ha ha
i'm surprise to see all ppl are with betran in this case
its either all of are barca fans or madrid haters but in both cases you are loser
i am madrid fan but i'm not helping drenth, coz dreanth use to much power in everything than than he use his brain
but he didn't make a crime, he only use over in the game just make peligrene glad and choose him in the squad
the guy apologise thats something many don't
plz ppl don't judge with your feeling, use ur brain
we had alot of players suffered from injuries like nisterlroy, diara, delared and ramos (all were in dangerous situation)
plz ppl remaimer its only a game
Have you ever kicked a proper football,i dnt think so,you would have known what happens when it to instant decision making by the way Messi is almost failing to take Argentina to the world. And remember by the time El Classico will be on REAL will be well combined and then we'll see.
drenthe is like the biggest @#$% in the leftback industry he is blind !!!! marcelo is way better hala madrid nd fuuuuuuuuucccccccckkkkkkkkk messi :P:P:P
Wow all of you people are retarded if you actually believe that Real Madrid players try and break people's legs. They really need to make a @#$% filter so that the normal people don't have to read 90% of these idiotic comments from haters.
the whole mentality and spirit of real madrid is dirty. they proove it clearly every- every time. shame on real!
It´s obvious that Drente has already received a few lessons from his team-mate Pepe “the bloodthirsty”, and yes, he´s learnt quickly…
shut up you sad @#$% its football @#$% happens relaxxx u sadd low lifes f""k messi il break hes neck
hala madrid
I don't know what exactly Alen John? ? For a start it looks like you don't know how to write in English.
"Let me hear word."
Pero vamos a ver imbecil, ¿qué coño quiere decir eso?
I don´t know what the game is all about? I think I do. I'll admit that my team lost to Real, but everyone is talking about Drenthe's tackle and everyone is saying it should have been a red card. I'm not arguing that Tenerife could have won the game if Drenthe had been sent off - although had he been given a red card, we could have won. In fact if Drenthe were to be suspended it still wouldn't help us. The fact is, one of our best players and our only right back is out for 4 months because of this animal who only was only FORCED to apologise in an attempt not to blacken Real's name. Look at the video on Marca. He doesn't care. And whereas Florentino Perez can easily have a replacement for Drenthe we, with one of the lowest budgets in La Liga, cannot.
I suggest you "shut off your mouth".
Let Me Hear Word.Mr Indonoob and pakeanutziarte. You dont know what game is all about..Its better your shut off your mouth if you dont know anything, even if Drenthe was wrong,.,you dont need to shout....football is a game.
Alenjohn
Malaga spain
Let's get this straight. He only apologized, after he was FORCED to. Marc Bertran was asked on Punta Pelota last night if he'd been contacted by Drenthe, to which he replied no. Drenthe is an animal. He went in strong in every challenge on Saturday, and even when he was in the clear for a shot on goal he blazed the shot over because he attacked it so damn hard.
Thanks for nothing, hijo de la gran puta. And who can we get now of the same quality as Bertran? We can't. We have one of the smallest squads in La Liga, and have a budget of next to nothing. We'll have to use Pablo Sicilia, a centre back as a right back, or use Aitor from the B squad, who has only played one competitive game. Imagine if Bertran had gone in like that on Ronaldo or Kaka? Bertran would be vilified throughout Spain and banned for weeks. But Drenthe gets off free. Yeah, because he plays for the "big" team.
I hope he leaves the Heliodoro in February on crutches.
You inexperienced looser. That is what you people at madrid are tought, to brake other players legs, just like you were trying to do to Messi last season, because you know that if you can't beat him fair, you try to brake his legs to stop him, because you can't stop him anyway else.
