Premier League - Badge-kissing Rooney in clear

Eurosport - Tue, 28 Oct 09:01:00 2008

The Football Association will take no action against Manchester United's Wayne Rooney for his badge-kissing antics at Goodison Park on Saturday.

2008-2009 Manchester United Wayne Rooney kisses the badge - 0

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he substituted Rooney for his own good at the weekend after the striker became increasingly frustrated during United's 1-1 draw with Everton.

Rooney was booked for a foul on Mikel Arteta and, with tempers starting to fray, Ferguson hauled the England man off.

He responded by kissing his badge, a move which clearly could be regarded as inflammatory at his former club.

However, the FA have confirmed they will not be investigating the matter further as referee Alan Wiley saw the incident at the time and had a quiet word with Rooney.

  2. So Rooney kissed his club badge big deal the same club that pays his excessive wages.Perhaps it had something to do with the huge number of Evertonian fans giving him stick and directing abuse in his direction. Oh yeah thats exceptable. Sorry but lets not forgett he is not much more than a kid and not immune to it, nobody would be and reacted in the only way he thought he could.

  3. Rooney didnt just kiss his badge like everyone says! Its almost as if he showed the middle finger to opposing fans! And please stop saying that its normal, its not! Hes a grat player, but behaves like spoiled brat!

Anyone remember Elber from Bayern, he went to sign for Lyon. When he scored against Bayern in CL he got a standing ovation from Bayern fans... Thats something...

I dont support any of the teams involved, but he should grow up...seriously!

  5. i wonder what he has to do to be reprimanded, if you read his lips and the foul mouthed verbal that is aimed at referees, fans and players and made him put a quid into a charity box every time he did it would wipe out all the poverty in the world. come on you fa big wigs make an example of this so called roll model

  9. ... they said "Premier League", Premier League was founded on 20 February 1992... so there isn't any premier league before that...

  10. The Torres example is very relevant. Rooney appears to have the IQ of an amoeba and the sophistication of a caveman. He left Everton showing himself as the moron he is, and he has continued to confirm that ever since. Torres, by contrast is a class act in the way he conducts himself, and in the way he left Atletico Madrid. And I am no Liverpool fan!

  11. Shameful act by Rooney! Everton made him what he is. At least he could show some respect for his boyhood club. Just look at Fernando Torres. They still love him at Atletico de Madrid and he loves them back!

  12. Sounds like America's NFL...the No Fun League. Is the FA stating that there is no place for loyalty? Rooney showed much restraint in not flipping off the Everton fans whose short memories faded at the service he gave them. He should have showed them his bum.

  13. Fair do........EFC made/gave him the break.............so he should show some RESPECT to the CLUB but also fair do as some EFC fans are SHOUTING all sorts at him when he plays there!!!

So in other words he aint slagging of EFC but "those" fans who over do it!!!

  14. There are actually seven teams who have been in the Premier League every year since its inception:
Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

  16. Seanlyall, you shouldn't talk without any knowledge of the facts. Everton fans did not criticise Rooney for wanting to move because he wanted to win trophies. He was at the club as a schoolboy, and he was (supposedly) a fanatical Everton fan himself. The reason why he is vilified is that he wore a T shirt under his club shirt in a game one day that said "Once a Blue, always a Blue." Not long after that he was pulling strings to get a move to Man U. His supposed undying love for the club did not last long. That is why he is reviled.

  17. Rooney has done nothing wrong.. as i recall everton fans declared him dead to the club because he wanted to win trophies. i know players nowadys have no loyalty but its became a business and its not goin back to the days whr they played for thr dinner anytime soon. GET OVER IT!

  19. Helen look at the post below yours before shouting out. These are the years Everton were relegated, and they nearly went to the 3ed division too except for a lucky couple of games..

Thats @#$%,mate...first of all how much time does he spend,actually...probably what the media and his publicity machine will allow you to believe.
The fact that he is way overpaid in the first place...does that make such a big sacrifice for him, sending a few dollars out of the multi-millions he has?
Ever read about @#$% Whittingtons cat?
You show your ignorance,my friend, charity and worthiness is not measured by the size of your donation(contrary to popular belief)
Maybe by the size of your sacrifice..
