Premier League - Badge-kissing Rooney in clear

Eurosport - Tue, 28 Oct 09:01:00 2008

The Football Association will take no action against Manchester United's Wayne Rooney for his badge-kissing antics at Goodison Park on Saturday.

2008-2009 Manchester United Wayne Rooney kisses the badge - 0

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he substituted Rooney for his own good at the weekend after the striker became increasingly frustrated during United's 1-1 draw with Everton.

Rooney was booked for a foul on Mikel Arteta and, with tempers starting to fray, Ferguson hauled the England man off.

He responded by kissing his badge, a move which clearly could be regarded as inflammatory at his former club.

However, the FA have confirmed they will not be investigating the matter further as referee Alan Wiley saw the incident at the time and had a quiet word with Rooney.

  1. #98 - I suppose you think the same about Gary Neville running the length of the pitch to kiss his shirt badge in front of the away fans?!

  2. Rooney's one of those players who just doesn't engage his brain when he plays. That's why he's always throwing reckless tackles and spitting obscenities at the referee. Glorified chav and not much more.

  3. Andy Jones ....... Get a grip on reality mate all he did was kiss his badge for goodness sake , if thats enough to risk causeing a riot then Football is in a much worse state than i ever imagined !!

  4. Does Rooney love Man. Utd. or the money? I think they pay professional footballers far too much money......They are just rich spoiled young men. I am just jealous of thier lifestyle of course. However I DO THINK Rooney and others should have more respect for the paying FANS no matter what ground they are playing in.

  5. Has to be said it was a bit bloody stupid to aim it at the fans of your former club, knowing that it might upset them!
Look what that t**t Barton did at the Sunderland supporters & the aftermath that ensued.
Merseyside Police said nowt, but the Northumbria Plod are filing reports about the fuss at the Derby Game.
Both players are utter t**ts but as one of them's been inside etc & the other's got a pin-up Mrs/photos of a wedding in a Celebrity mag etc, they get separate treatment.
    Whole thing's a crock.......
