Unlike other MotoGP teams entering next year’s inaugural Moto2 World Championship, Tech 3 is designing its own motorcycle, which it will campaign alongside its Yamaha MotoGP project involving Colin Edwards and new signing Ben Spies.
Edwards is a double World Superbike champion with eleven MotoGP podiums to his credit and regarded as an excellent development rider.
Spies is a quick-learning rookie WSBK champion, tipped by many to one day become the first WSBK title winner to also claim the MotoGP crown.
With that in mind, Crash.net asked Tech 3 if it might call upon the skills of Edwards and/or Spies to help develop the new Moto2 bike during the winter?
Tech 3 acknowledged that it would be great to give Edwards, Spies or even factory Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo an outing on their Moto2 bike - but declared that Edwards and Spies will remain at home in Texas for much of the winter and that Moto2 testing will only be carried out by the team’s to-be-announced Moto2 race riders.

If I were Tech 3 I would be knocking at the door of Mr Martin Cardenas. John Ulrich has this knack of finding great rider's for an underfunded team and making podiums. Martin has skills that cry for this type of ride. I would seriously look at Cal Crutchlow to help develop the bike, but would sign Cardenas to ride in a heartbeat.
