Bookmakers have suspended betting on Hull City boss Phil Brown being the next Premier League manager to be sacked.
Hull are third-bottom with eight points from 11 matches and speculation is rife that Brown, who led them to promotion in 2008, will leave the KC Stadium.
Leading bookies Paddy Power and William Hill have taken down their markets on the next manager to be fired in light of the speculation, while Sky Bet are already offering odds on the next Hull boss, with Alan Curbishley and Gareth Southgate joint-favourites at 5-1.
Brown earlier told the Hull Daily Mail he would not walk out on the club, while chairman Phil Duffen has remained supportive and the club have issued a brief statement insisting their manager has not been sacked.
"Contrary to media speculation, the club can confirm that Phil Brown has not been sacked and remains the manager of Hull City Football Club," read a statement on the club's official website.
Fans, however, staged a protest at the weekend draw with bottom-club Portsmouth, while former player Dean Windass called for Brown to go.
Hull started life in the top flight in impressive fashion, winning six of their first nine games.
But they were only able to clock up two more victories out of the remaining 29 matches and - after losing seven in their last 10 - only stayed up because Newcastle United won just one in their final 13.
Brown's man-management style has been criticised, while he has so far failed to bring in an experienced top-class striker, sold main defender Michael Turner to Sunderland and saw record-signing Jimmy Bullard miss the majority of games injured after joining for £5 million from Fulham.
There are also concerns regarding the club's accounts, with their promotion season yielding a £10 million loss, although figures are yet to be published for the following season and the club are confident their Premier League windfall eased their financial problems.

there are no decent managers that will wish to take the hull job if brown is given the boot, you should be looking at what championship managers would take the job. paul jewell is a half decent boss that can work to a budget, tony adams, gary mac, on a lighter note john barns is looking for a job!, hull is not really a club that will attract the kind of class you need to take the prem title is it.
this upsets me, i was waiting for Brown to come back to Arsenal so we could knock 10 past them and then watch with glee at his post match interview. The bloke has taken over as the most hated manager in the country and he has a tampon string coming out of his ear on match days, which must make him a C***
lets stop talking about Brown Going lets have a look to who you will all replace him with even the recent managers who have been sacked have all had much better squads than Brown and still failed and i for one am agaisnt another outsider so come up with some sensible suggestions and leave out Keegan Southgate And Shearer
Who will be City's captain this week? I reckon I'm in with a shout.
If you agree with this, put a thumb up .. Phil Brown made a glorious return for Hull City, right? So, if he got sacked and no rightful and experienced manager to replace him, I say, they'll be in Div 1 next season. do you agree? Yes? No?
Is he a good manager?
No(thumbs up)
Yes(thumbs down)
I am so sick of people advertising on here - who wants a playstation or PSP - go and buy one if you do stop advertising on here, BT should ban you lot, idiots!
I still haven't forgiven Brown for lying about Cesc Fabregas spitting at him - what goes around comes around Brownie and you deserve to go you're just not a premiership manager and you humiliated your players - byeeee!
OK, so what has Phil Brown done for Hull? Got them in the top flight for the first time ever. They were lucky to go up via the playoffs, but they did. They had a good spell at the start of last season, which was enough to keep them up. The truth is out. Hull are c.rap, but what good would sacking their most succesful manager ever do? (In that no other manager has ever taken them as far before) Knock Brown all you want, (and I agree it's easy) but face the facts. The premier league is ou of Hull's league. No offence HCFC fans, but who would you replace him with anyway? Roy Keane? Kevin Keegan? You? Me? Rant over.
S Comment No 3! Idiots, Idiots? Do you really think that because peoples paitence has its limit they are idiots! Grow up for goodness sake! Brown knows what sort of job he has got. He knows that he is only as good as his last five results! If he is honest with himself he would be the first to admit it! Also that he has had long enough to turn things around and failed! Being in the Premier League and sniffing that rarified air of the best league in the world! Well its like getting to the top of the Mountain. or whatever! Once you have tasted it you want to keep on, so whats wrong with that? If this Manager is intent on taking them down the moutain again then he has got to go, and soon! Because if he doesn`t then the ball that is rolling downhill will have so much momentum it want just stop at the next level!
I hope so he's a big joke
trotter: your a sad cúnt making fun of someones skin. He's better than Hull anyway you don't deserve ANY quality manager.
djh, my comment wasn't really directed at you, I was talking about some of the Hull fans in general. I wasn't calling you an idiot, and meant no offence.
It is time for Phil Brown to go...he's scared and confused and there needs to be a Huge change of momentum! He has had plenty of time - things have been poor for the past 10 months! He is playing very negatively, only 2 shots on goal in the past 2 games and even when we pack people behing the ball we let goals in! We've had 7 Captains in the past 10 games and have no stability in the team. High profile players don't want to come here, even when the money has been accepted and recent ex-players are calling for him to leave. We appreciate where you have brought us, but if something dramatic doesn't happen, we'll be on our way back to where we came from...
Come home Sunbed
Its OK appreciating what you have, but how long do you do that before its to late. The alternative is to try someone new in the role. By the way I never said I was a Hull fan, just a football fan observing the situation and trying to put forward a sensible comment, not needing the insults thanks. Brown has done a great job and Hull have had a great time with him there but it appears to now require something or someone different to happen to keep them in the prem. try making a sensible suggestion yourself 'S' instead of just slagging off other peoples!!
So Hull fans feel they someone new to take them to the next level, haha! I remember Charlton fans whining and saying " We've gone as far as we can go under Curbishley "...and they were right. Off he goes and Charlton promptly drop 2 divisions! Look where you were before Brown took over, Appreciate what you have, idiots!
I like Phil Brown and think he has done a great job for Hull, but he was the first to get rid of players who he thought couldn't take them to the next level i.e. Deano etc. I feel that he should now look at himself and say the same. Curbishley is a great shout, Southgate couldn't really hack it with plenty of money so don't think he'd be much use at Hull, though he didn't deserve sack from Middlesborough!! Curbishley would attract players and can do well with limited funds,. I think Browny will also do well in the future elsewhere though!!
lol his time is up; feed him to the tigers
