Adkins to take it to City

Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins insists his side will travel to face Manchester City in the Carling Cup with "no fear".

The Iron are playing in the fourth round of the competition for the first time in their history and after already seeing his side beat Sheffield United and Newcastle in the Championship this term, Adkins is eyeing a shock against their big-spending Premier League opponents.

"We try and win every game of football we play and we've done all right over the last couple of years," he told the club's official website.

"We go there with no fear, Manchester City should beat Scunthorpe at home. We've earned the right to play against them and we're going to go out and give them the utmost respect and give it everything we've got to give ourselves the opportunity.

"We've given our players the platform to show how good they are."
