Dundee United boss Craig Levein admitted his side could have few complaints after they were knocked out of the Co-operative Insurance Cup by St Johnstone.
Own goals from Sean Dillon and Darren Dods put the hosts in control and even though Prince Buaben pulled one back, United were unable to find an equaliser.
Levein felt United should have had a penalty when Danny Cadamarteri tumbled in the box under pressure from Saints skipper Kevin Rutkiewicz.
However, he also acknowledged his players had failed to perform, saying: "I didn't think we did well enough to win the game, in all honesty.
"In the last 10 minutes - maybe 15 minutes - we showed a little bit more urgency.
"But you sit here and take your medicine. I thought St Johnstone caused us problems all night long and we didn't deal with balls into the box."

Craig Levein why did you wait until St.Johnstone scored before making changes to the team?
Thats two weeks running this has happened, last week against hamilton was the same.
Everyone could see an opposition goal coming, and yet we did nothing until it was too late.
When we have injuries we are not good enough to play 4-4-2.
Play 4-5-1 or 3-5-2 instead. Trust me it works for me on championship manager all the time.
Ok Big man.
Oh and another wee hint to tannadice catering, St Johnstone steak pies were better than ours, whats that all about. get it sorted!
