Peter Taylor has held brief talks with Ipswich manager Roy Keane about joining the coaching staff at Portman Road.
Former Hull, Crystal Palace and England Under-21 manager Taylor is available having been sacked by Wycombe earlier this month and Keane is thought to want an experienced coach alongside him as he bids to turn around Town's poor start to the season.
"Possibly something might be done next week but I'm not prepared to get involved in what at the moment is only speculation," said Taylor.
"Roy and I have had a chat, a little chat, and that's as far as it has gone so far."

1.As QPR soar to the top of the Championship on the back of fast, direct play full of slick passing and off-the ball endeavour capped with a host of quality goals... Town spiral down to League 1 (could they get less points than Derby did in the Premiership) with a majority of posession but little direction and purpose. Who thinks that Marcus Evans is a saviour now... and that Jim Magilton is a 'turnip-head'..... well done Jim many of us didn't want you to go. Let's see if the Tractor Boys can do as well against Derby as QPR did last week and seen (like Ipswich v. Newcastle... what an embarassment) by the nation on TV.
