Tom Ford edged closer to securing an appearance at the UK Championships after he beat Stuart Pettman 9-5 in the qualifiers at Prestatyn.
The pair were tied after the morning session, but Ford produced two century breaks to close out victory in style.
Ford (pictured) will now face Barry Hawkins in the final round of qualifying with a spot in the tournament finals in sight.
Elsewhere, Telford's Adrian Gunnell overcame the challenge of Atthasit Mahitthi 9-3 to move one match away from his place in the main draw.
Gunnell raced into a 7-1 lead in the opening session but his Thai opponent pegged him back to 7-3.
But Gunnell held his composure to seal victory in frame 12 with the 37-year-old facing Matthew Stevens in the final qualifying round.
Mark Davis pipped Tony Drago with a tight 9-7 win, while Ken Doherty - a three time runner-up in the tournament - overcame Mark Joyce 9-6.
Andrew Higginson beat Simon Bedford 9-6 to set up a match against Ricky Walden, while Michael White edged out Jamie Burnett 9-8.
Anthony Hamilton won five frames on the bounce to beat Jimmy Robertson 9-4, and Michael Judge defeated Irish compatriot Joe Delaney 9-5.
