Montrose dump out East Fife
A tremendous performance from Third Division Montrose gave them a 2-1 victory over Second Division East Fife and a place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
Montrose started well and created a string of chances before almost taking the lead in the 22nd minute.
An overhead kick from Paul Watson crashed back off the cross and Steven Tweed headed the rebound over.
Montrose continued to attack and Hugh Davidson was denied by the feet of goalkeeper Mark Ridgers.
The home side broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Watson fired home a left-foot drive.
Two minutes later East Fife were out of luck when Jamie McCunnie hit the bar.
But the equaliser came in the 61st minute when a corner was headed on and Paul McManus shot into the roof of the net.
Montrose scored a deserved winner two minutes from time when a Daryl Nicol cross was forced home on the back post by John Gemmell.
