Vonn set for divorce
Alpine skiing star Lindsey Vonn is to get divorced from her husband of four years, Thomas.
Thomas Vonn, a former US Olympic skier eight years her senior, serves as her chief adviser and schedule organiser.
"This is an extremely difficult time in my personal life and I hope the media and my fans can respect my need for privacy on this matter," she said.
"[I will] continue to be coached by the US Ski Team and look forward to competing the rest of the season."
Vonn missed the season-opening World Cup slalom race in Aspen on Sunday with a sore back but should return to action for a downhill training run in Lake Louise on Tuesday.
Vonn, who skied as Lindsey Kildow before her marriage in September 2007, won downhill gold and a bronze in the super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics despite suffering from a badly bruised shin.
She has won three overall World Cup titles, with 42 World Cup wins to her name, standing level fourth on the all-time list.
