Simpson sure Hewitt is next Bale

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson believes Elliott Hewitt could become the next Gareth Bale and hinted that he could leave Moss Rose in January.

The 17-year-old right-back is the youngest player to represent the Silkmen in the Football League and has already represented Wales at Under-21 level.

"I know there has been a hell of a lot of interest in Elliott but he's only just come back from his groin injury," Simpson told the Manchester Evening News.

"But if somebody wants what potentially could be another Gareth Bale - which I think the kid is - then they need to show us the colour of their money. If they do, then you never know, the kid may move."

Simpson insists that he will only add players to his current squad if there are departures.

He added: "We've got one or two out on loan so it depends on who, if anyone, we lose. If we do then I might have to do something but we'll always cut our cloth accordingly."

  2. Wouldn't it be great if we could afford to keep our better players. This is where proper managers are. I could manage Man City with an unlimited budget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
