Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed his interest in Motherwell forward Ross McCormack.The 21-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has held talks with Boro about a possible Bosman deal.

The Teessiders have also looked into securing him now, but Southgate insists nothing is imminent.

He told the Daily Record: "McCormack is a player we have been watching.

"We've been in contact with Motherwell to let them know we have an interest.

"We have had preliminary discussions with the player's representatives but at the moment there is nothing concrete."

McCormack has already stressed he is not going to leave Fir Park before the summer and Well still hope they can tie him down to a new long-term contract.
