Bhoys Bid £3.1m For Lafferty - Report

Tue 29 Jan, 08:09 AM

Celtic have reportedly tabled a bid of £3.1million for Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty.

The Daily Record claims the staggering package includes the transfer of Derek Riordan to Turf Moor.

And the paper claims the Bhoys are hopeful that it will finally persuade the Clarets to part with their young Northern Ireland star.

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan had a £500,000 bid for Lafferty rejected in the summer.

But the package of £2.5million cash and Riordan (valued at £600,000) will now give Burnley a tough decision to make.

A source close to Lafferty told The Record: "Kyle is very keen to get this move but only if the clubs can agree.

"He knows how big Celtic are and that it would be a wonderful opportunity for him.

"Kyle knows all about the offer and is waiting to find out if Burnley want to accept. He's excited about the possibility and we'll all know soon enough."
