Gary McAllister has been named new Leeds manager following the departure of Dennis Wise.
Wise quit the League One side to take up a post at Newcastle, leaving Leeds to turn to former Scotland international McAllister.
The 43-year-old - who made nearly 300 appearances for Leeds in the 1990s and was a popular figure with the Elland Road faithful - has penned a contract until June.
He will be charged with continuing the good work of Dennis Wise - who has guided Leeds into fifth place despite a 15-point deduction - and seal promotion by the end of the current campaign.
McAllister has experience of management since hanging up his playing boots - he took charge of Coventry in 2002 - but has been out of the game recently for personal reasons.
He will take his bow in the Elland Road hotseat for the game against Tranmere on Saturday. Technical director Gwyn Williams will take charge of Tuesday's game at Southend.
