Gene wins fifth stage in Gabon

Frenchman Yohann Gene won the fifth stage of the Tropicale Amissa Bongo in Kango, Gabon.

The Europcar rider sprinted to the front of a 55-rider leading group, crossing the line in three hours 29 minutes 12 seconds to take the win on the 149km stage.

France's Nacer Bouhanni (Française Des Jeux) finished a close second, with Belgian Quick Step rider Frederique Robert in third.

Gene's team-mate and compatriot Anthony Chartreau retained the lead in the general classification, with Andy Cappelle (Quick Step) and Adil Jelloul (Maroc) just four and seven seconds behind respectively heading into Sunday's final stage.
