Huefner and Zoeggeler take gold
Germany's Tatjana Huefner and Italy's Armin Zoeggeler won World Championship gold in Cesena, Italy.
2010 Olympic champion Huefner edged out compatriot Natalie Geisenberger to earn the third world championship gold of her career.
Canada's Alex Gough winning bronze to pick up a first ever women's World Championship luge medal for Canada.
"I didn't waste a thought on the Worlds two years ago (where she was beaten by Erin Hamlin) but fully concentrated on this track here in Cesana," said Huefner.
"I've been working hard with my mechanic and my coach and it has paid off. Well, in the first run I was a tiny bit scared when my sled took a bit off."
In the men's event, Italian veteran Zoeggeler (pictured) won his sixth world title some six years after winning his fifth.
The 37-year-old finished ahead of German duo Felix Loch and Andy Langenhan.
