Stars Return For Wasps

Fri 29 Feb, 12:32 AM

London Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan has called upon all his available Six Nations internationals for Friday night's Guinness Premiership game against Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park.

Though McGeechan's selection is still restricted by an injury list that includes James Haskell (ankle), Tom Rees (knee), George Skivington (nose) and Riki Flutey (hamstring), the line up does include Six Nations stars Danny Cipriani, Paul Sackey, Simon Shaw, Eoin Reddan, Tim Payne and England captain Phil Vickery.

Two bonus point wins in the last two weeks mean Wasps campaign to reach the top four is very much alive, but a win at Kingston Park will be the first for the Londoners since November 2003.

Looking forward to the trip McGeechan said. "It's good to have the Six Nations boys back, even if it is just for a week, although the six day turn around for the players adds to the challenge.

"At the moment, our focus is on keeping our momentum and as much continuity as we can, though that is not always easy when we are putting a different starting fifteen on the field each week during the Six Nations.

"In addition, Newcastle currently have a good home record and we haven't won there for a while, so this game is a tough prospect for us."
