Darlington were made to pay for a lack of firepower up front as Bradford came from behind to record a 3-1 victory at the Darlington Arena. The home side took the lead in the 10th minute after former Darlington striker Barry Conlon was adjudged to have handled inside the area.
Clark Keltie blasted the spot kick down the middle of the goal as City keeper Scott Loach dived to his left.
The visitors got themselves back into the game early in the second half when Conlon laid the ball off for Peter Thorne, whose cross was met by Tom Penford, who fired low into the bottom corner from six yards.
Bradford took the lead in the 63rd minute when another former Darlington player, defender Paul Heckingbottom, sent a free kick into the area and Conlon looped a 12-yard header over David Stockdale. Darlington struck the woodwork in the 76th minute when Rob Purdie sent over a left-wing cross that was miskicked by Penford against the crossbar.
In the 79th minute another former Darlington player, Joe Colbeck, raced into the area and sent a low drive beyond Stockdale to secure the victory. And four minutes later the Quakers' day soured further when Richie Foran was given a straight red card for a two-footed lunge on Colbeck.
