Sir Alex Ferguson is convinced his Manchester United assistant Carlos Queiroz will not be joining Benfica despite speculation in Portugal.Queiroz is in his second spell at United after a brief stint as Real Madrid's head coach.

But Ferguson has played down the rumours that his number two will be heading back home next season.

He said: "I am quite certain Carlos will not be going to Benfica.

"The Real Madrid experience was something else. It was a job he had to take.

"But he learned how difficult it is. He wasn't allowed to buy and instead told to sell players."
