Pirates and Glovers share spoils

Sat 29 Mar, 08:15 PM

Yeovil and Bristol Rovers both edged a point closer to League One safety as they cancelled one another out in a goalless draw at Huish Park. What chances there were fell to Rovers, who have never beaten Yeovil in six meetings since their neighbours joined the Football League.

Rovers introduced new striker Wayne Andrews, signed on deadline day on loan from Coventry and he lasted only 17 minutes before he was stretchered off following a crunching tackle by Terry Skiverton.

Yeovil also had a deadline day signing - Asmir Begovic, the young Portsmouth goalkeeper - and he proved to be the hero with two tremendous saves to tip the ball over the crossbar.

First he was at full stretch to deny Rickie Lambert in the first half and three minutes from time he denied Stuart Campbell from 25 yards.
