Oldham avenged their FA Cup defeat by Huddersfield to stretch their unbeaten run to three games with an impressive 4-1 win at Boundary Park. The rout began after just seven minutes when a Deane Smalley shot bounced back off the bar, hit Jason Jarrett and rolled into the net.

Oldham doubled their lead in the 40th minute after Chris Taylor intercepted a clearance to set up unmarked striker Leon Constantine for a perfect finish.

The home side cruised to a third goal on the stroke of half-time when Huddersfield defender Nathan Clarke carelessly handled on the edge of the area and Jarrett came up with an explosive free-kick for his third goal of the campaign.

The visitors suffered more agony when goal number four duly arrived in the 62nd minute when Constantine sent Smalley racing down the wing and Taylor was well placed to hit his shot past keeper Matt Glennon from four yards.

Despite four well-taken goals the lively Latics missed from the penalty spot when Taylor missed out on his hattrick in the 72nd minute.Huddersfield did grabb a last minute consolation goal when substitute David Mirfin scored with a close-range effort.
