Newcastle Eagles moved a a step closer to securing the BBL Championship title with an 82-68 victory over MK Lions at the MetroRadio Arena on Friday evening.

Lynard Stewart top-scored for the Eagles with 18 points to help keep his side eight points clear of Plymouth Raiders at the top of the table.

The Raiders maintained their pursuit with a 90-75 defeat of Cheshire Jets, Andrew Lasker leading all scorers with 30 points.

Elsewhere, Sheffield Sharks crushed Everton Tigers 104-81 with 24 points from Alto Virgil.
